Help for parents
Smart Wrestler for parents
As a parent you can add your children, sign them up for tournaments, pay, sign any waivers, check in on the morning of the event, and follow their matches live. Your child does not need an email address. This page walks you through each step in order, and links to a fix if something does not go the way you expect.
Step 1
Start here
If you already use Smart Wrestler, keep your login and add Parent access if needed. Otherwise, create your account, choose Parent, and verify your email. Then pick the line below that matches your family.
| Your situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| My child is under 13, or has no email | Go to Parent, then Athletes, and choose Add Child Athlete. |
| My teen already has their own account | Choose Link a Wrestler on your dashboard. Your teen approves the request from their own login. |
| I am a coach or host who is also a parent | Add Parent access to the account you already have. See how. |
If you already added your athlete and they want their own login, see how they can claim the existing profile.
Free accounts can look after up to 2 children. A Parent plan raises that to 4. See plans and event passes.
If your child under 13 already submitted a signup, approve that pending request before creating another profile. How to approve a child’s signup.
Already a matching child profile? Choose Request access rather than creating another athlete. Access starts only after approval. Matching profiles and second-parent access.
Step 2
Register for an event
- Find the event with Find a Tournament and open its page.
- Choose Register and pick the child you are entering.
- Choose the bracket, weight class, division, and experience level. The form only shows choices that fit your child.
- If the event asks for waivers, read and tick them. As the parent, you are the one who signs for a child under 18.
- If there is an entry fee, check the summary, then choose Continue to Payment and finish checkout.

Step 3
Weigh-in and check-in
Hosts run weigh-ins one of two ways, and the registration form tells you which:
| Event style | What you do |
|---|---|
| Weigh-in at the venue | Nothing before the day. Staff weigh your wrestler when you arrive, then check them in. |
| Weigh-in at home | You enter your wrestler’s weight when you register. On the morning of the event, check them in yourself. |
Step 4
Tournament day
- Check the event page for the schedule, mat assignments, and brackets. They update as the day goes on.
- Open the live view to watch scores as they happen.
- Turn on notifications so you hear when your wrestler is close to wrestling.
- When the event wraps up, final results and placements appear on the event page and in your notifications.
See Match alerts for what each alert means.
Step 5
Manage your athletes
Open an athlete from Athletes to see everything in one place: their info, club, and grade, plus their tournaments and payments.
- Update grade level whenever it changes. Past registrations keep the division they were entered in.
- Add or change their wrestling club, or type a new one.
- Update their city and state, or how their name sounds.
- Need to fix a name or a saved birthday? Contact support and we will correct it for you.
- Unlink an athlete from your account if you no longer manage them.
Step 6
Family analytics
Family Analytics turns your children's matches into simple trends: results over time, recent matches, and how each tournament went. It is included with a Parent plan. Higher tiers add deeper detail such as tendencies and opponent history.
