What formats can the generator build?
- Single elimination: the fewest matches, with optional consolation rounds for third through fifth place.
- Double elimination: a winners side and a consolation side that meet in a final; one loss does not end the day.
- Round robin: everyone wrestles everyone; groups of two can wrestle once or best of three; large groups split into pools automatically.
- Pool play plus elimination: pools of a size you choose, top finishers advance to a bracket, with true second and tiebreak rankings available.
- Team dual: teams wrestle teams through the weight classes, and duals feed a bracket, pools, or a round robin between teams.
How does seeding work?
On the check in page you can type seed numbers by hand for every wrestler or press Auto Seed to assign them by record strength, then state rank. Seeds place the strongest wrestlers as far apart as possible so they meet as late as possible. If two wrestlers in one group share a seed, the generator warns you and the bracket will not lock until it is resolved.
What does the generator warn you about?
- A weight class with one wrestler: a merge picker folds them into an adjacent class so they get matches.
- A weight class with two wrestlers: it becomes a single match; consider merging or best of three.
- A pool too small for an elimination phase: pools need at least two groups.
- Duplicate seeds: fix before locking.
- A large experience gap: a beginner drawn against an advanced wrestler, where grouping by experience may be kinder.
What happens after brackets are generated?
Brackets sit in preview until you lock them, so you can regenerate freely as late entries and scratches settle. Locking takes a bracket live: it opens Match Control for scoring, feeds the mat queue, and publishes to every family account. Locking is reversible: unlock, change, regenerate, lock again. Completed matches keep their scores and audit trails even if a result is later corrected.
Why not use a bracket template or spreadsheet?
A template handles one bracket of one size. A tournament has thirty weight classes with fields of three, five, nine, and fourteen, and they change at weigh ins. A generator handles the byes, the sizes, and the changes, and then keeps the bracket live so the mat assignments and the parents' phones follow it. Templates are still useful for planning, which is why we publish them too.

Is the bracket generator free?
Creating an account is free. Generating brackets is part of hosting a tournament; hosting a free entry event has no hosting fee, and paid events pay a capacity based fee from $100.
Can I generate an 8 man or 16 man bracket for a specific weight?
Bracket size follows the field. Eight wrestlers produce an 8 man bracket; nine produce a 16 man bracket with byes placed automatically.
Can I edit a bracket after it is generated?
In preview, regenerate as often as you like. After locking, unlock the bracket, make changes, and lock again.
Does it print?
Brackets are live pages you can display on any screen and families follow on their phones; use the browser print function for a paper copy.
