• Double elimination, losers drop to a consolation bracket, so every wrestler gets at least two matches and placement is earned on the mat.
• Round robin, every wrestler in the group faces every other. The default for small youth weight classes where maximum mat time is the goal.
• Pool play, big weight classes split into configurable pools that each run round robin, with pool winners crossing over into placement matches.
• Team duals, a bracket of teams, not individuals. Each dual runs weight class by weight class from lowest to highest, win methods earn team points, and the team point total decides who advances.

You choose the format per division and weight class when you set up brackets, so a single tournament can run round robin for the 6U kids and double elimination for the varsity weights at the same time.

How does bracket generation work?

Brackets are generated from your real tournament data, not a separate list you maintain by hand. Once weigh ins close, the engine takes each division and weight class, applies seeding, places byes, and produces the full match list, typically in seconds, even for large events.

1. Registration fills the field: every online or on site entry lands in its division and weight class automatically.
2. Weigh ins confirm the field: wrestlers who miss weight or do not show are handled before a single match is created.
3. You pick the format and generate: single or double elimination, round robin, pool play, or team duals per group.
4. Matches inherit round numbers and bracket positions, which also drive mat scheduling and the live bracket display.

What happens to brackets during the tournament?

The bracket is live infrastructure, not a display. As table workers score matches, results write straight into the bracket: winners advance along their canonical path, consolation slots fill, and placement matches materialize when their feeders complete.
