Nebraska wrestling weight classes from official NSAA championship programs, with 2026–27 manual context, girls’ classes and the Class D entry distinction.
Quick answer
Nebraska’s official NSAA 2026 championship programs show fourteen boys’ weight classes from 106 to 285 pounds and fourteen girls’ classes from 100 to 235. School classifications, such as boys’ Class D or girls’ A and B, are separate from bodyweight categories. The 2026–27 manual also contains competition and weight-management requirements beyond the chart. Check the current athlete record and event instructions before entering; the number of available classes does not automatically determine how many athletes a school may enter.
Which NSAA weight classes are listed?
The official 2026 boys’ and girls’ championship programs verify the numerical chart. The current season manual supplies the separate entry and administrative context.
| Competition | Nominal classes |
|---|---|
| Boys high school | 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190, 215, 285 |
| Girls high school | 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 155, 170, 190, 235 |
What is unusual about the boys’ Class D district entry rule?
The current manual allows a Class D school to enter up to two wrestlers in a designated weight class at qualifying tournaments while retaining a fourteen-wrestler total cap. It requires the school to identify the team-scoring wrestler in the stated circumstances. That is an entry allocation rule, not a change to the weight sequence.
A host must therefore avoid deriving a universal “one athlete per class” limit from the chart alone. Read the actual tournament rules and school classification before validating entries or calculating team scoring. Families should ask the coach which athlete and entry designation apply.
How do girls’ A and B labels differ from weight?
The girls’ championship program uses school classifications alongside the weight labels. A100 and B100 refer to separate competition contexts with the same nominal 100-pound category. The letter is not an allowance and does not alter the numerical class.
For a family tracking results, choose the classification first and then the weight bracket. Saving only “100” in a personal schedule can lead to opening the wrong bracket or waiting near the wrong mat. Keep the athlete’s full event division visible in team communications.
What do growth and deadline requirements add?
NSAA’s manual separates the growth allowance from the athlete’s permitted minimum and includes an earlier competition requirement for using it at districts, with stated exceptions and deadlines. The coach needs the season record as well as the list of class names.
- Review the official pre-meet form for the competition date.
- Check the applicable school classification and entry allocation.
- Verify any district deadline requirement early in the season.
- Confirm an exception through NSAA’s process rather than through a registration note.
How should an NSAA event be configured and explained?
Create divisions that preserve boys’ or girls’ competition, school classification and bodyweight. If the entry rule permits more than one wrestler in a class, establish the team-scoring designation before results begin. A public bracket should not leave families trying to infer that distinction from a team total.
Smart Wrestler hosts should review their event format and team setup against the governing packet. Read event-format guidance.
The 2026–27 manual introduces additional girls’ dual competition information. Use the actual current dual packet for team qualification and scheduling; do not assume an individual championship program describes all of those requirements.
Frequently asked questions
Does Nebraska use a 120 class?
Yes. The official 2026 boys’ and girls’ programs include 120 in their respective fourteen-class lists.
Is Class D a bodyweight category?
No. It is a school classification. The individual weight class is a separate part of the entry.
Can Class D schools enter two athletes at one district weight?
The current manual permits this within its fourteen-athlete total and team-scoring designation rules. Follow the complete provision.
Does a fourteen-class chart automatically allow fourteen entries in every format?
No. Entry allocation, school classification and tournament format must be checked separately.
