Help with payments

Payments, refunds, and plans

When you register for a paid event you pay the host's entry fee plus one service fee, and you see the exact total before you confirm. Nothing is charged until checkout is finished. Refunds come from the tournament host and follow the refund policy shown when you registered. Plans and event passes are optional extras that add things like match alerts and analytics.

Section 1

What you pay

A paid event has two lines on your summary: the host's entry fee and one service fee. The total is shown before you pay, and it is the same however you pay.

An example summary. Amounts differ for every event.

Payments are taken securely by our payment partner, Stripe. Your card details go straight to them, and Smart Wrestler never sees your card number.

Section 2

If you leave checkout

Your spot is saved once payment goes through. If you close the payment page, lose your connection, or change your mind, you are not charged and no registration is created.

  • Go back to the event and choose Register again.
  • If the event filled up while you were away, ask the host whether they can make room.
  • If you were charged but do not see your registration, see payment problems below.

Section 3

Receipts and history

Open Payments in your dashboard to see every payment you have made, with its status. Parents see payments for each child. Keep this page handy for your records.

Section 4

Refunds

Entry fees are paid to the tournament host, so the host decides and issues refunds. Each event shows its policy on the registration page, and there are three kinds:

PolicyWhat it means for you
Full refundThe entry fee is refunded and your spot is released.
Partial refundPart of the fee is returned, and your wrestler can stay entered.
No refundsThe entry fee is not returned.

Section 5

Plans and event passes

Plans and passes are optional. They add extras on top of free accounts, such as match alerts and analytics.

OptionHow it works
Yearly planBilled once a year. Its extras work at every event for that year.
Event passA one-time payment that covers one tournament. You can buy it from that tournament’s page.
UpgradingYou can move up a tier by paying only the difference. Moving down a tier is not available, so choose the one you need.

Parent plans cover your children, Coach plans cover your team, and Athlete plans cover a wrestler's own account. If you are both a coach and a parent, you can hold one of each on the same account, and each one shows only on its own Subscriptions page. Plans by role.

See current prices on the pricing page.

When you manage billing in Stripe, the return link takes you back to the workspace you opened billing from. Use Coach subscriptions for your team and Parent subscriptions for your family.

Questions

Common questions

Why is there a service fee on top of the entry fee?
The service fee covers the cost of taking your payment securely and keeping registration running. You see it as one line before you pay, and the total at checkout is exactly what you are charged.
I left the payment page. Was I charged?
No. Nothing is charged until checkout is finished. Go back to the event and register again to start over.
Who gives me a refund?
The tournament host. Entry fees are paid to the host, so refunds come from them, following the refund policy shown on the registration page. Use the contact details on the event page.
Is a plan a one-time payment?
Plans are billed yearly. Event passes are a one-time payment that covers one tournament. You can manage a plan, update your card, or cancel from the billing portal on the Subscriptions page (Open Billing Portal).
Do I need a plan to register for a tournament?
No. Registering is free apart from the event’s own entry fee. Plans add extras such as match alerts and analytics.
