Registration & payments

Wrestling registration that fills your bracket, not your inbox

Individuals and whole teams register online, pay by card, and land directly in the right division and weight class, so tournament morning starts with wrestling, not data entry.

Quick answer

Smart Wrestler’s online registration lets parents, wrestlers, and coaches sign up for tournaments and pay entry fees by card through Stripe. Entries flow straight into divisions and weight classes, hosts control the registration window, and the fee is $2.50 to $3 per wrestler per entry (or $50 per team).

How does online registration work on Smart Wrestler?

A host opens registration with the divisions, weight classes, styles, entry fees, and dates they configured when creating the tournament. From that moment, anyone with the tournament link can register: a parent signs up their kids, an adult wrestler signs up themselves, and a coach registers an entire roster in one session.

Every entry captures the wrestler, the division and weight class they are entering, and payment, collected by card through Stripe at registration time. Because registration writes directly into the tournament database, there is no export/import step: the wrestler you accept at registration is the same record you weigh in, bracket, and score.

  1. Host opens registration with a defined window (open and close dates).
  2. Families, wrestlers, and coaches register online and pay by card.
  3. Entries appear in the host’s registration dashboard in real time, organized by division and weight class.
  4. Registration closes; the host reviews the field and moves to weigh ins.
  5. On site late registration is supported too, with the same per entry fee.

What does team registration look like for coaches?

Coaches register the way coaches actually work: by roster. A coach opens the tournament, selects wrestlers from their team dashboard, assigns each to a weight class, and submits the whole group at once. For team dual tournaments, the unit of registration is the team itself, $50 per team per entry, with the roster weighing in before duals begin.

Coach accounts are free and include unlimited roster wrestlers during team and dual tournaments, so a program never hits a paywall just to get its lineup entered.

How are payments and fees handled?

Payments run through Stripe, the same processor used across modern e commerce. Registrants pay the host’s entry fee plus Smart Wrestler’s registration fee, $2.50 to $3 per wrestler per entry for individual tournaments, or $50 per team for team events, and online card payments include Stripe’s standard 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee.

For comparison, Trackwrestling’s published model (as of mid 2026) charges $2 per wrestler per entry plus a 3.15% online transaction fee. The structures are similar; the difference is what registration is connected to, on Smart Wrestler, the entry fee, the weigh in record, the bracket seed, and the mat assignment are one record in one system.

Why does connected registration matter on tournament day?

Most tournament day disasters trace back to disconnected registration: a wrestler paid but is not in the bracket, a weight class has two spellings, a team’s entries live in an email attachment. Connected registration eliminates the entire failure class. The registration dashboard shows the host exactly who is entered, paid, weighed in, and checked in, one status view from sign up to first whistle.

It also changes the money picture. Entry fees collected online before the event mean no cash box reconciliation, fewer no shows (people show up for what they have paid for), and a clean payment trail: every family sees a payment received notification, and hosts see revenue in their billing dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

How much does wrestling tournament registration cost on Smart Wrestler?

The registration fee is $2.50 to $3 per wrestler per entry for individual tournaments and $50 per team for team tournaments, whether payment is made online or on site. Online card payments add Stripe’s standard 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee.

Can parents register multiple kids at once?

Yes. A parent account links multiple wrestlers (2 free, up to 4 with premium) and registers each child from one dashboard with one payment method.

Can coaches register a whole team?

Yes. Coaches select wrestlers from their team dashboard, assign weight classes, and submit the roster in one session. Team dual tournaments register by team at $50 per team per entry.

Do registrations sync with brackets automatically?

Yes, that is the core design. Registration, weigh ins, brackets, mat assignments, and scoring share one database, so an entry accepted at registration flows through the entire event without exports or re entry.

Can a tournament accept walk up registrations on the day?

Yes. Hosts and staff can register wrestlers on site through the admin dashboard, with the same per entry fee applying to on site entries.
