Massachusetts wrestling weight classes

Massachusetts wrestling weight classes from MIAA’s official weigh-in sheets: 14 boys’ classes and 12 girls’ classes, with recordkeeping checks for schools.

Quick answer

Massachusetts MIAA weigh-in sheets list fourteen high-school classes from 106 to 285 pounds on the general school form and twelve classes from 100 to 235 on the Girls form. The girls’ list includes 107, 114, 152, 165 and 185. Use the correct form for the competition, not a girls’ fourteen-class chart from another state. MIAA’s sheet also separates certified weight, actual weigh-in information and the nominal class, so one number alone does not describe the complete eligibility record.

Which MIAA weight classes are listed?

The official forms linked from MIAA wrestling resources establish the lists below. They are published forms, not a claim that the PDF filenames represent a new season amendment.

What do the MIAA weigh-in form fields represent?

The forms include class rows, the wrestler’s name, certified weight and weigh-in fields. Those fields serve different purposes. The class is the category being contested, while certified and measured information documents the athlete’s status through the school process. Copying the actual scale number into the class name makes the entry harder to interpret.

When a volunteer types a roster, give them a clearly labeled source sheet and a coach to contact for questions. They should not derive the correct competition class by rounding a measured weight or choosing the nearest available dropdown value.

Which signatures and records should schools prepare?

The published MIAA sheets require the stated school verification and instruct coaches to retain copies for the sectional seeding meeting. The form explains the principal’s verification role and does not require the principal to stand at the scale. Follow the actual current instructions rather than inventing a presence requirement from the signature line.

Keep the signed record accessible to the responsible coach. A registration confirmation email documents an event entry, but it does not replace the signed school form. Check names and dates while the relevant staff are available, rather than discovering an incomplete line when preparing sectional materials.

Why can a girls’ weight imported from another state be wrong?

A family may arrive expecting 105 or 110 from a fourteen-class girls’ event. The Massachusetts Girls sheet instead begins 100, 107 and 114. The mismatch is a chart issue to resolve with the coach, not a reason to tell an athlete to change their body weight.

  1. Choose the MIAA Girls form for a girls’ competition.
  2. Read all twelve numbers, including the upper weights.
  3. Compare the entered class with the school’s approved record.
  4. Check any season-specific amendment before submitting the final entry.

How should a Massachusetts event publish its divisions?

Name the school level and competition designation alongside the weight. Put the governing packet and check-in instructions where visiting schools can find them. An unlabeled list of numbers leaves families guessing whether they are reading varsity, youth or another division.

If Smart Wrestler is used for the meet, review the offered classes before sending registration links. Review school-event organization.

After entries close, check for values that do not occur on the correct form. Contact the school about those records before bracketing. Keeping compliance paperwork and public brackets consistent prevents an administrative correction from becoming a confusing mat-call change.

Frequently asked questions

Is 120 on the MIAA forms?

Yes. Both cited lists include 120. Use the full boys’ or Girls sequence rather than assuming all other numbers match.

How many classes are on the MIAA Girls sheet?

Twelve, running from 100 to 235 pounds. The document includes 107, 114, 152, 165 and 185.

Does the principal’s signature mean the principal must attend weigh-ins?

The form states that the principal need not be present at weigh-ins; the signature verifies entries. Follow any newer official instruction if issued.

Is a registration receipt a substitute for the signed form?

No. Entry administration and the school’s required weigh-in verification are different records.
