Choose one future competition as the pilot. Keep season dues, membership agreements and the existing club calendar in the system that already owns them. Set up the tournament separately, with its own date, divisions, registration window and published entry fee. This tests the competition-day workflow without asking families to interpret a tournament purchase as another season payment.

1. Name one club contact to answer tournament-registration questions.
2. Recreate the event’s divisions and public information; do not assume a WrestlingIQ roster or payment is automatically transferred.
3. Ask families to register through the new event link and review any waiver requirements.
4. After the pilot, review check-in, table scoring and parent communication before choosing the next event.

What is WrestlingIQ?

WrestlingIQ describes itself as software for wrestling teams and clubs: online registration for seasons and camps, payment collection including dues and payment plans, rosters, messaging, scheduling, and mobile apps. It positions itself against general purpose tools like SportsEngine, TeamSnap, and Mindbody. Pricing is performance based: no monthly fee, a 2% fee added to the parent's bill, plus standard card processing of 2.9% plus 30 cents. A club website is a separate add on, $99 per year for self serve or $49 per month plus a $500 setup fee for a custom build.

What does WrestlingIQ not do?

• Generate tournament brackets in single, double, round robin, pool, or team dual formats.
• Run weigh ins and check in against a tournament roster.
• Assign mats, queue bouts, and show a bout board or scoreboard.
• Score matches live with an audit trail, or compute match statistics.
• Send a parent in the hole, on deck, and up to wrestle alerts.

How does Smart Wrestler handle the club's tournament?

The club publishes its event, parents register and pay entry fees by card into the club's Stripe account, staff and volunteers run weigh ins and scoring on their own logins, brackets generate per weight class with auto seeding, mats run a dynamic queue, scoreboards display on any TV, and awards post the moment brackets close. The hosting fee is one payment from $100 by reserved capacity, and free entry events pay nothing.

How do the fees compare on a tournament?

On Smart Wrestler, a $2.50 to $3 registration fee per wrestler is added to the parent's total, and the host pays a fixed hosting fee. WrestlingIQ's 2% is a club management fee on payments it processes, which for a season of dues is a different calculation entirely. The two are not really competing on the same purchase: one bills the season, the other runs the event.

When should a club use both?

When it needs season registration and dues billing and it hosts or attends tournaments.
